Earlier today I went to the Acer Service Center to have my dead laptop repaired. After waiting and sweating for a while, my turn finally came and I watched as the Acer dude checked my laptop.

The solution to the problem was the memory. He just switched it from one slot to another slot and it’s working again. I was surprised the solution was that easy! I already tried to dissect my laptop yesterday but I did not do anything because I fear I might do further damage. I thanked him and went on my way (he did not charge anything, lucky me). I am very thankful that the laptop got fixed but I would like to share with you something I’ve learned in this experience.

Always make a back up of your files and keep your things secure all the time.

• .htaccess editor - Something good for you technical people out there, you can edit your .htaccess file using a program and risk lesser problems that editing it manually. I once edited my .htaccess to remove the “www” when you access my blog.
• HowTo: Prevent Bandwidth Theft or Hotlinking - Jaypee teaches us how to prevent bandwidth theft. The solution uses .htaccess so that .htaccess editor might come in handy.
• Why I delete your comments - When you want to comment on a blog, you better read this do’s and dont’s written by Selaplana. It’s a nice idea and I think I will also apply it on my blog.

How do you know if it’s in the Philippines?

You check their rates. If their prices as in Peso (P) then it’s in the Philippines. I noticed that some have their rates in dollars ($).

One of the first things you got to do when you want your own stand alone blog is to go look for a web host. In the Philippines alone, there are a lot of web hosting companies that you can choose from and you have to choose carefully which web hosting company you wish to purchase from.

Personally, I only compared two web hosts. The only thing I compared between them is their prices. ^_^ I did not do enough research before making the purchase so I’m currently suffering from blog downtimes.
