Blog updated to wordpress 2.2.2

I have just updated my blog to wordpress version 2.2.2.

A big thanks to Jaypee for making my upgrade process very easy. Also because of this, I was able to test out the Maintenance Plug-in for wordpress. hehe That is like hitting two birds with one stone.

So how do you upgrade?

First I recommend you do a back up of your wordpress files. You can back it up using cpanel or through a plug-in.

Then try to inform your users that you are under maintenance.

Quoting Jaypee’s intructions, basically you have to replace these files in your wordpress installation.

/wp-admin/import/wordpress.php
/wp-admin/admin-db.php
/wp-admin/admin-functions.php
/wp-admin/edit-comments.php
/wp-admin/link-import.php
/wp-admin/options.php
/wp-admin/upload-functions.php

/wp-includes/formatting.php
/wp-includes/functions.php
/wp-includes/general-template.php
/wp-includes/theme.php
/wp-includes/widgets.php
/wp-includes/version.php

/wp-app.php
/wp-settings.php
/xmlrpc.php

After you replace these files, you are done. =)

A picture of the blog while in maintenance. I used a different browser so it would not recognized me as the admin of the site.

Haha Thanks. I read the wordpress manual and it said to use wp-admin/upgrade.php .. but nothing happened. I guess it was really a minor upgrade that did not need much changes right? hehe

Btw, No problem. You are welcome.

Yeah, you don’t need to run the upgrade.php file coz you only overwritten a few files. :)
