Blog Updated to WordPress 2.3.2

WordPress 2.3.2 was released last December 29, 2007 but I failed to update as soon as possible because I was still enjoying my vacation. But now that the vacation is over, it’s time to update.

As of writing, Silkenhut’s World is now running under wordpress 2.3.2.

You should update your wordpress immediately because,

WordPress 2.3.2 is an urgent security release that fixes a bug that can be used to expose your draft posts. 2.3.2 also suppresses some error messages that can give away information about your database table structure and limits and stops some information leaks in the XML-RPC and APP implementations. To see a comprehensive list of changes in wordpress 2.3.2, click this link.

Since this is just a security patch, we only need to replace a few files. Here are the files that you need to replace.

I was planning to update too, but somehow, updating blog software scares the **** out of me. I used to run this blogger.com blog, and I updated it to the new widget template, from the old classic one, and within a couple of days, lost almost every search ranking I had for the blog.

Ah, I can guarantee you that this update will not mess up your blog or search rankings since you will only replace a few files. The search engines wont know you did it.

Btw, I’m curious on how could it have happened? You just changed from “classic” blogger to “blogger-beta” and you lost your search engine rankings? As far as I know, to lose your search rankings, you have to change your links or your domain name itself. Can you please explain more?

Well…I had customized the classic template, with CSS floats and 3 columns, and both sidebars came last, with post text in the center column at the top of the page, when you see it in source, if you know what I mean…So, when I switched to blogger beta, the search engines started seeing things totally different. I gave up trying to figure it out…Took about 4-5 months to get back in.

i am using already the latest version of the wordpress but having problems with the wp_comment_post.php file because the redirect command doesn’t work.

Oh I see, can I have a link to that blog? I’m not if switching to blogger beta made your template for “classic blogger” have errors.

      Hi Sel,
what do you mean redirect command? Is it the one that returns you to the blog post after writing your comment? For example, the url becomes,
      http://silkenhut.com/blog-updated-to-wordpress-232/#comment-2618 ?
