Hi there everyone, it’s time yet again for my reaching out issue. I just noticed that the issue # can be used as an age indicator of my blog. I really wish that I could reach perhaps, Silkenhut reaching out issue 100 or more! That would mean my blog would be like uhh 100 weeks old or 700 days old! Wow!!! ^_^

Anyways, enough of my daydreaming and let me dish out the links for the week.

• Movable 4 vs Wordpress - Movable type has been updated to version 4 lately and a comparison has been done between wordpress and movable type. Who wins?
• Manny Pacquiao is all over the news - Manny Pacquiao is just incredible! The whole country gets united every time he fights that even politicians forget their petty fights and pointless accusations against each other. “Walang kang katulad Manny“!
• Supporting OPM Artists - I admire Elmo Aka JP for his support to the OPM artists by buying their albums.
• 31 days to building a better blog - A goldmine of blogging tips for everyone! I like this project of Problogger. You can read and learn a lot of stuffs here. You can spend your whole day reading it and you won’t be able to finish all since new links are added almost daily.

There have been lots of discussion regarding the Carl Ocab blog. I realized that the link I posted last week was only looking at one side of the issue so I will refrain from adding links about it anymore. In other words, I won’t take sides on the issue. I’ll just blog silently here…. ^_^

I would like to apologise that my week’s blogging performance was pathetic. Inconsistent posting and weird posting times (some posted in the am, some in the pm). I wasn’t been able to manage my blogging time recently since I traveled to Iloilo, did some data gathering such as interviews and went back to Manila on the same week. It’s a bad blogging practice of not being prepared. Oh well, I’ll try best this week. ^_^

Alright! One day after the blog’s first monthsary! I am so happy that my blog is one month old now and I wish to thank everyone who has visited, commented, browsed, tagged and just anything you did as long as you got to know my blog.

Ok, here we have issue 4 of the Silkenhut’s reaching out series. If you still don’t know what I am doing, here’s a little explanation. Every week, I select a few blog posts from around the blogs that I visit and feature them here. I found these posts either informative or entertaining and would like to share them with you all. • Link exchange? Not so fast - This is something to think about when requesting for link exchanges with bloggers.
• Makati Police on Youtube - Even the authorities has used youtube to spread awareness against crimes. A fantastic job!
• The Funniest Geek Quotes - GeekBoy says, “There are are 10 types of people in the world: those who understand binary and those who does not“. NotGeekBoy replies, “You only mentioned two (2) out of ten (10) dumbass!!!” I always laugh when I see replies like this.
• Be a YesAsia Associate - Mr. SELaplana shares to us how to earn by being a YesAsia Associate.
• Five (5) reasons why visitors hardly comment on your posts - As expected from the pinoy blogero, once again he unleashes a great entry! ^_^
• Ethical Blogging - Finally, somebody breaks the ice. A must read especially if you have doubts on a blogger “too young” to be an expert in “making money online”.

This week I learned how to use RSS feeds. As you can see, I have more links to share because I used RSS. So expect that my next posts will be about RSS haha.

I am now in my third week in this reaching out series. That means that one week from now, my blog is going to be 1 month old! My blog’s monthsary!

A lot of things happened to me this week which are my first blogger meetup, my successful thesis defense and my broken heart. The last one is very devastating but I will not let that be a reason for me not to do my homework for this week’s issue. So without further ado, here are my interesting picks for the week. … *sobs* .. sniff.. wipes nose* ..

• 5 deadly sins to guaranteed to kill your link requests - this is some good advice and a warning to those who want people to link back to them. Do not do these five deadly sins or you can say goodbye to that potential link back to your site.
• Blog hopping or link baiting - This is also a post that talks about link baiting to gain visitors. It is similar to the first link. Remember that if you do not give effort in the sites you visit (you just say blog hop with a link to your blog without reading anything) others will do the same to you too. ^_^
• Email Etiquette - This is some nice guidelines on writing emails. I can say that some of them are even applicable outside of emails ! A very good read.
• Muddy Blogosphere - A rant and a podcast to the recent activities in the mailing list of PinoyBlogosphere. As a member of the mailing, I have to weed out a lot of useless posts just to find nice links to read.
• Getting sharp images with a digital camera - Pardon me for a sudden change in topic but this is a nice article on improving your camera skills.
• The DigitalFilipino Blogger Meetup - This has to be included. ^_^ It has been a great event and it was my first blogger meet up.

This week’s issue seemed to be concerned on the recent link baiting people have been doing. They tend to post their links everywhere, yahoo groups, comments and tag boards in order to solicit visits to their blog. Although no one can stop them from doing it, I believe that it does not do them any good. They might gain some visits but they will not gain regular readers for their spam-like actions. • Who is better? DLSU or ADMU? - Ehem I’m from DLSU but I’m not that biased. .. im not.. GO DLSU! YEAH! dlsu lost. huhu
• State of Nation address by GMA (Philippines) - I have not watched this on tv so I guess reading it is the only choice to know about it.
• Losing a brother - It is about losing someone important in their lives. In the author’s experience, she lost her brother. My condolences .. -_-
• Lazy blogger will not succeed - Selaplana tells us that lazy bloggers won’t succeed. Oh no! I am a lazy blogger… goes on and kills self. (a good read btw.. it inspired me not to be lazy)

• Top 10 Transhumanic Technology - What kind of technology we have today? Very amazing!
• Nike Air Transformers - Look at these cool shoes! I have one shoe that is similar, Nike Free 7.0.
• Wely’s Why eat my booger - I don’t know if I’ll be grossed out or be entertained by this entry. It’s worth a read for some good laughter.

I also noticed that this week, most of the posts are about harry potter. Since I am not a fan of Harry Potter, I shall not post any Harry Potter stuffs here. But I am mentioning Harry Potter just to add keywords wahah sneaky bastard!
