DLSU Wins Game 2 of the UAAP 76 Basketball Finals

Game 1 was a game where it could have gone to either direction; but that block by Karim Abdul on L.A. Revilla’s last second attempt sealed the deal. DLSU lost by 1 point against UST in Game 1.

Game 2 was what we call a redemption and DLSU’s answer to what went wrong in their Game 1. They won 77-70.

  • In Game 1, DLSU found themselves down by double digits by the end of the first quarter. In Game 2, the tables were overturned and it was UST who was down by double digits.
  • In Game 1, DLSU was burned by the hot 3 point shooting by UST led by Kevin Ferrer and Jeric Teng. In Game 2, Kevin Ferrer was made non existent and the 3s weren’t falling that much for UST.
  • In Game 1, AVO was plagued by foul trouble in the first quarter. In Game 2, it was Karim Abdul and even his substitute, Paolo Pe found themselves with fouls hounding them.

There maybe more adjustments done by Coach Jun Sauler but whatever these adjustments were, they worked big time!

Also, it is worth noting that DLSU also muscled their way in the rebounding category which of course, led to a lot of second chance points. With the UST bigs in the bench or in foul trouble, the DLSU bigs simply dominated the boards (even the guards too!). They were just too hungry for the ball (27 offensive rebounds) to let it go without going through the hoop!

Congratulations to the DLSU Green Archers. Just one more game and you will join the Lady Archers as the UAAP Basketball Champions!

Expect big adjustments from UST on the 3rd game but as long as we can contain their shooting guns (especially Jeric Teng); that championship is ours. We also need to keep up the beat down in the paint; AVO, Torres and Perkins should go HULK MODE and smash! To LA, Almond Vosotros, Tomas Torres – keep up shooting down from outside and directing the offense. To Jeron Teng, put on your King Archer crown and tell your bro; sorry not this time. To the other players who weren’t in the rotation in Game 2; don’t lose hope. I’m sure Coach had this reasons, “My choice”, as he replied to the biased commentator lol.

Till next game,

PS: To scalpers, I hope you all go to jail or get robbed after making a sale
