Google AdSense ad serving has been disabled to your site (2012 Version)

Last year, Adsense got disabled here on silkenhut.com and nearly a year later, I got a similar email on August 15, 2012. My heart dropped and I checked on what was the cause of this. I found out that it was caused by my old posts that was there mainly for SEO purposes and for getting traffic from search engines. I have stopped doing this already but I never bothered to clean up my old posts and those old posts got flagged by Google Adsense.
So I started a clean-up by deleting posts that doesn’t have any useful content and only served to get me traffic. I also did some revisions on posts that had limited content and removed any keywords that were misleading. Feeling confident that I solved the issue, I filed a “policy violation appeal” on August 17, 2012 only to be denied. Now I heard that usually you only get to appeal once and with that, I was really down. I got denied on my only chance and I don’t know what to do anymore…
However, I kept doing the clean-up of the blog now with the help of robots.txt editing and via Google Webmaster tools. I blocked via robots the low quality pages I have on my site (e.g. pages, categories, tags) and fixed the errors found via Google Webmaster tools. I did this for nearly a month and hoping that this would help.
Come September 13, 2012, I sent my second appeal and I crossed my fingers hoping that I’ll be getting a response. I was ready to receive no reply due to the “appeal only once” but just today, September 17, I got an email from Adsense saying Adsense got re-enabled on my blog! I didn’t expect this so I’m now very happy!
I learned that I should be patient before I send a policy violation appeal.
I learned that I should always review the Webmaster Guidelines and follow them by heart.
I learned that I should review the errors in my blog especially my outbound links as you can get punished by linking to violating websites.
I learned that it is possible to send it another appeal but I would like to stress that you should get it right the first time.
I hope that this will be the last time that Ad Serving will be disabled on my blog.
Till next time,
Allen
