LG Philippines Launches LG Optimus G

Earlier today, I attended the launching of a new phone by LG Philippines; LG Optimus G at the Manila Peninsula.

Here’s the specifications of LG Optimus G.

True HD-IPS + LCD capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors
768 x 1280 pixels, 4.7 inches (~318 ppi pixel density)
32 GB storage, 2 GB RAM
13 MP, 4320×3240 pixels, autofocus, LED flash
Android OS, v4.1.2 (Jelly Bean)
Quad-core 1.5 GHz Krait
Adreno 320
Non-removable Li-Po 2100 mAh battery

From the specifications, the LG Optimus G will be LG’s new flagship phone replacing LG 4X HD and Nexus 4.

In the event, they explained the different functionalities of this phone that would set it a bar higher than its competitors in other brands.

  • Faster Quad Code Performance when compared to similar quad core phones
  • True HD IPS display which boasts to be much 1.6x clearer than AMOLED with less power consumption
  • Improved battery capacity, efficiency and longer life thanks to the newly developed and much thinner battery
  • QSlide – allows you to open up to 3 applications simultaneously. You can control the opacity of each application.
  • Live zooming on videos
  • Dual play – similar to “extended desktop” functionality on Windows (e.g. stream the video on your tv while you do other things on your phone)
  • QuickMemo – turns your current screen into your own personal notepad where you can quickly add scribbles and take a screenshot. The scribbles you make can be set to stay on your screen even if you change applications (e.g. messages to contact list)
  • Screen Zooming – zoom anything on the screen
  • Time Catch Shot – Takes several shots even before you press the shutter button. Great for action shots … jumps shots anyone?
  • Smart Shutter – Allows you to take action shots without blur

Last thing that’s worth a mention is that it supports LTE and it will be priced at around PHP 26,990 when it hits the stores.

So what do you think of it? Personally, after playing with the demo phone, I believe it is a pretty solid phone and its really fast and smooth. But I’m hoping to get my hands on it for a longer time in order to make a full review.

Till next time,

PS: Heart Evangelista and KC Montero are their celebrity brand ambassadors. (just a short FYI)
