Manny Pacquiao TKOs Ricky Hatton after two rounds

Pacquiao snatches Hatton’s International Boxing Organization junior welterweight title after a second round TKO

I’m speechless! Is Pacquiao still human? He has defeated big names in boxing one by one. Who’s next?

It is just one of days in the Philippines where everyone stays at home and you can freely rev up with no traffic. Everyone are staying at home or in designated place where they can watch the Pacquiao-Hatton match live. I was one of those who had bad luck because I could not find the boxing match on tv and my internet was down the whole morning (was hoping for some live streaming of the match).

So as a loser, I just heard the results from my girlfriend when we went out to buy some food. As of now, I’m reading up some articles and here are some things currently showing up in the news.

“Ricky Hatton to retire?”

I really have no idea on what happens in the boxing world but I’m wondering why are they suggesting that Hatton should retire after his second loss in his career? It was his own trainer who suggested this, Floyd Mayweather Sr. Hatton lost to Floyd Mayweather Jr. and, just today, to Manny Pacquiao. I’m wondering if that is reason enough to retire? Maybe it is just their pride or maybe they are thinking that after getting knocked out, Hatton’s pride is shattered so he won’t fight as good as he was before. However, I think Hatton should not retire for now. He should try to end his career with a good win instead of saying, “I’m retiring because I got knocked out“.

Pacquiao-Mayweather Jr to fight soon?

After Hatton, who’s next? As of now, there had been discussions of a possible bout between Pacquiao and Mayweather Jr as both has declared themselves as the best pound per pound fighter. Will this be a future reality? We will see in 2010 or in 2011. What do you think?

  1. I guess it’s more of a psycological thing. Once you have a big loss like this, it’s difficult to maintain the necessary confidence in the next match. And your next opponent will know that and he’s more confident and agressive. It’s a difficult situation for Hatton.
