Are you looking for the meaning of the word Shawty?

Shawty is just a slang word for your girlfriend. Before, rappers and hip hop singers used the term “boo” but now, times has changed and this is the new term. There are many songs dedicated to Shawty. You can get a list of Shawty Songs here.

Of course, history tells us that Shawty used to refer to someone who is short in nature. Hence the word, Shortie then it became Shawty to sound better and give a slang tone to it.

In Chinese, there is also a term that sounds like Shawty. It’s Sho-ti that means younger brother. I guess if a chinese has some cold or nasal problems, when he calls his younger brother, you will hear this word instead.

I just did some student teaching and one of my students would call everyone, including me, “shawty”. He also told me to watch the 3 Saw movies with my girlfriend, because she’d never want to leave the house again, or something like that. I don’t know. Kidz is cRaZY.

A term orginating in Atlanta that, in the beginning, referred to a short person or child, but the span of the word has grown to include any and all people, especially a girl that is attractive; it is mostly used as a term of endearment to others or just a way of addressing someone, like ‘Wassup Man,’ Instead of “Man”, shawty is used.
