How to play Playstation 1 games on your PSP via Popsloader? PSP Playstation Popsloader 300x98

Do you still remember playing Playstation 1 (PSX) when you were still a kid? How many games can you still remember? It was the playstation that made me addicted to Role Playing Games and the first one I played was Breath of Fire III. I was just in elementary school then… I only finished the game when I replayed in via an emulator when I was in college.

It really feels good looking back at those games where I still could not beat because I was young then. I want to play those games again but I don’t have a PlayStation anymore. So the solution would be to play them on an emulator. You can play them on your PC (via ePSXe) or using your PSP which this guide is all about.

Update:

STOP!

By default, PSP’s with custom firmware are already able to play playstation (PSX) eboots. But in the case it doesn’t work, continue reading.

This can be done via popsloader, a PSP Plugin that serves as a psx emulator.

Popsloader Latest Version

**depends on your custom firmware

No downloads are offered in this blog. This will only guide you once you have the files needed.

Prerequisites:

  • PSP running on custom firmware (eg. M33, Gen, Hen)

Here’s the instruction:

  1. Connect your PSP to your computer
  2. Copy the whole popsloader folder under /seplugins/ on your memory stick. (if folder doesn’t exist, create it)
  3. Browse through the /seplugins/ folder and find the file pops.txt
  4. Add this line “ms0:/SEPLUGINS/popsloader.prx 1″ and save
  5. Disconnect your PSP from your computer
  6. On your PSP, proceed to Game->Memory Stick and run your PSX Games.

Some Questions you might ask.

I can’t find Popsloader application in my memory stick?

This is normal. Popsloader is a plugin and not an application that you can run via the memory stick. It will run automatically once you enable it.

then how do I enable Popsloader?

Press select on your PSP and go to the recovery menu. Go to plugins and enable popsloader.prx.

Great so now where do I download PSX Games?

PSX Games are in the form of Eboots which unfortunately I don’t have in this blog. Use the blog’s contact me then I can personally help you.

I read that I need to change my Popsloader version, how do I do that?

Not all games will work on your PSP (assuming you have custom firmware), luckily there is this page that shows us the PSX on PSP combatibility list. It teaches us what versions of your firmware and POPSLOADER should you use to have a smooth gameplay. Here is the URL where you can simply copy paste into your browser.

  1. Hello.

See it’s a good thing that you can do this but. LEt’s face it, there aren’t that many good PS1 games compared to whats out now. So why do they keep trying make it so we can play them. Who cares! Just make the product cheaper and leave it out.

    Dan.
