Utorrent – Missing Torrent File after Adding a New Torrent

Utorrent Logo

Utorrent is a bittorrent client used to download from torrents. It is my go to app for torrents after moving from Azureus.

Sometimes, when I use utorrent, I notice that some of my torrents that I added were missing. My initial reaction would be that I forget to add the torrent and I just thought I did so I would re-add the torrent.

But then utorrent would say, “The torrent you are trying to add is already on the list of torrents. Do you want to a load trackers from it ?” If only I can ask back, “are you sure?” but all I can do was to scratch my head and try to see where’s my torrent in the list. This is the case of what people call the invisible torrent.

After doing some solution searching, I found out why utorrent can see the torrent and why I can’t. It has something to do with labels on utorrent. Please see this pic of the sidebar of utorrent (if you can’t see the sidebar, press F7 to display it).

For your missing torrent, try to expand the labels and see if there’s a label called hidden there.

Most probably, something went wrong with your initial attempt to add the torrent so it got added by utorrent but was labeled as “hidden”. All you have to do is to expand the labels and check whether you see a “hidden” label or not.

If you see your torrent under “hidden”, you can either delete it and re add your torrent OR;

… relabel your torrent so that it won’t be hidden anymore.

Hope this helps! 🙂

Till next time,

Allen
