WidgetCity Online Store Experience and Review

One of the items on my wish list is the X-Mini Max 2 Speakers. I’ve been seeing it sold in malls at a price of ~PHP2500 and I was hesitant to buy it due to that price. However, when I saw an online ad before that sells it for around PHP 1500-PHP2000 only, I set my focus on buying it at that price range only. It wasn’t really an urgent need for me but it suddenly became one when I saw that WidgetCity (http://www.widgetcity.com.ph/) was selling it for PHP 1500 only.

I then visited their site frequently and did some searching on the reviews about WidgetCity. There wasn’t enough online reviews about them (or I just don’t know where to search) so I decided to try out my luck and contact to inquire about the speakers.

April 24 – I sent a text message to their published contact numbers and they replied (but they could be more courteous to customers!). I asked about the availability of the item and told them that I’ll be sending an email. I sent an email to sales@widgetcity.com.ph telling them about my intent to buy the speakers and on how can I get it shipped to my place.

April 26 – I sent a follow-up email because I didn’t get any reply. I also sent them a text message and they replied, “regarding” and after I replied, I didn’t get a reply. Is it too much to reply to potential customers?

April 27 – Still no reply so I created an account on their website and bought the X-Mini Max 2 speakers, and I paid via Paypal (credit card). I got an automated reply from sales@widgetcity.com.ph. Since I paid via the paypal/credit card option, I sent a scanned copy of my credit card and 2 IDs.

April 30 – I again sent another follow-up (3rd) and a certain “Martin Luther Bornilla widgetcity@gmail.com” replied to me informing me that I only paid for the item and not the shipping. How would I know what to do if they are not replying? I didn’t want to prolong the transaction so I opted to simply pick up the item from their location so they gave me the address and I went to their place.

May 3 – I was able to pick up the item at this location.

I had troubles picking up the item because when I asked them what I need to bring, they replied “ID and credit card”. However, they didn’t inform me that the building also needs an ID before you can enter and upon reaching their place, they were asking me for a photocopy of the “scanned copy” I sent to them via email. So I had to go back down and find an internet shop (glad there’s one inside the building) and print that scanned copy. Hassle!

As you can see, my review is mostly complaints and I couldn’t help it. They really need to improve on their communications and their instructions especially to new buyers. However, to cut them some slack, they do have instructions in their website and that photocopy requirement was written there for pick-ups. But shouldn’t they have told me that too when I asked them via email?

Another thing I wanted to share was … do check the item carefully before you leave their place. The first item that they gave me had a defective speaker so I was able to complain and get a replacement right away. Overall, I’m still happy that I got a brand new speaker from WidgetCity and I just needed to be patient.

    YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW HOW TO VALUE YOUR CUSTOMERS.

    I ordered a Galaxy S3 mini battery last THursday (Dec 12, ’13) and payed the item the same day thru BPI.
    then emailed the receipt after i went home around 8pm which i know is beyond their working hours. i texted immediately this number 0917.509.6041 after i emailed them.

    The following day (friday), i texted them again about the receipt and asked if when can i possibly have my order.
    I immediately got the reply, ‘tommorow na po’.
    i was happy.

    So saturday came, i waited the whole day but i received nothing. i texted them. no reply. i emailed them. no reply.

    Sunday.. still no packaged came. again, i texted and emailed them. and again, i hear nothing from widgetcity.

    The next day, i texted them in the morning. Asking for my order, or atleast the tracking number. i was already frustrated that time. Then finally someone replied, telling me TO STOP ACTING LIKE A KID AS SUNDAY IS NOT A WORKING DAY! and its next text was asking if i already have emailed my receipt!
    DA HECK! YOU CONFIRMED THAT I CAN RECEIVE MY ORDER LAST SATURDAY AND NOW YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW IF I HAVE EMAILED MY RECEIPT? YOU EVEN HAVE THE GUTS TO GET ANGRY!
    Then i replied that i have already emailed the receipt last THURSDAY.
    Then they replied that they were not able to ship my order last saturday since its already the cutoff and sunday is no shipping day.
    They should have shipped it day before saturday since they already confirmed to me that i can already receive my order on Saturday.But instead, I just calm down because i don’t have a choice but to wait for them.

    They said they will ship my order the same day (Monday) and i can possibly receive it the next day.

    Then tuesday came. again, i waited the whole day for my order. at the end of the day, nothing came.
    but i did not text them.

    Today, Wednesday. 6days after i placed my order.
    i texted and emailed widgetcity at around 9+am asking for my tracking number. i received a reply around 12+ nn only asking for my name. immediately i replied.
    hours of waiting, again, they did not reply.
    i even tried to call their landline (+632.256.00.88), asking for the tracking number. the first time i called, he told me to call back cause he doesn’t know any details of my order since he was not the one in-charge for samsung.
    I called again in the afternoon. asking for the same thing.
    She was unsure of my query so she said she had to look for the details first and i just have to call them back. however, i insisted to just wait on the line cause i was already frustrated with my order. But, the next thing i know, she already hang up on me! I tried to call again and again but no one’s answering and later on the line became busy!

    Later this afternoon finally i got a reply, and it says THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO SHIP MY ORDER SINCE I DID NOT PAY THEIR SHIPPING FEE! HECK! IT SAYS THERE IN THEIR WEBSITE THAT SHIPMENT IS FREE!!!! AND NOW, I HAVE TO PAY FOR IT?
    I SUBMITTED MY ORDER DECEMBER 12, 2013, today is DECEMBER 18 already, and they just informed me about the shipment!!!
    WHAT THE! WHAT KIND OF SERVICE IS THAT??
    AND NOW I TOLD YOU TO FIX THIS, and ALL YOU COULD OFFER IS MY REFUND???

    IM NOT REALLY SURE IF YOU KNOW WHAT DOES ‘CONVENIENCE’ MEANS!
