Wordpress 2.6.1 Released – Maintenance Update

Yesterday, wordpress 2.6.1 has just been released and I just realized that I have not posted on the release of wordpress 2.6 itself. Oh well, its too late to post about wordpress 2.6 unless I cheat post hehe. So now, let us talk about wordpress 2.6.1.

Wordpress 2.6.1

I’ve been reading the posts of those who wrote about this release and I learned that, this update is a maintenance update for wordpress. The focus of this release is to iron out bugs found in the 2.6 version. There had been a lot of wordpress bugs that were fixed for this release.

So the advice of the wordpress team on this upgrade is to upgrade only if you are experiencing bugs on your blog. If not, you don’t have too. But, for me, I think you should upgrade. You will have to upgrade sooner or later since I don’t think this is the last release for wordpress.

You can always use the Wordpress Automatic Upgrade plug-in to do the upgrade for you in just one click if you think upgrading is hard. Or, if you feel adventurous, you can do the upgrade manually. Just check out the files that have been changed and replace them in your wordpress installation.
