What if… one day, you wake up, check your blog’s stats and discovered that you have lost a great amount of traffic because Google dropped your rankings in Googel Search. What would you do?

Well, the first thing you should do is DO NOT PANIC! It won’t solve anything. Then you should file a Google Reinclusion Request or a Google Reconsideration Request.

What kind of request is a Google Reconsideration Request

Basically, it is a request where you write a letter to Google asking them to forgive you for your sins and return you to your previous rankings in the search engine results. It used to be called as Google Reinclusion Request but to make it sound better, they made it Google Reconsideration Request.

How to make a Google Reconsideration Request?

In order to make this tutorial more easier to understand, please view this video instead. It is a video that Yatot shared to me.

In a nutshell…
So if you think that Google has dropped your rankings, you need to file a Reconsideration Request. However, before you do that, make sure to fix all the problems in your website that made Googel drop you in the first place.

Here are the common mistakes.

• Hidden Links
• Peyd Links or Peyd Posts
• Keyword stuffing

For more info, please read the Google Webmaster Guidelines. As of now, I have no choice but to submit to Googols power because I’m still not getting enough traffic from other search engines. Google!!! Why have you abandoned my blog? Why are not sending visitors anymore? What have I done to you?!

Now, you must be thinking that I’m crazy shouting at a search engine but I’d like to share with you something that happened on June 12 (google traffic dropped on June 12). My traffic suddenly dropped nearly to half!

Here are more evidences of the Googol Traffic Drop.

Do you see that? Do you see my traffic that looks like a mountain turn into a flat plain in just one day?

For June, Google Traffic is 14% while Yahoo Traffic is 55%. While in May, Google Traffic was 31.20% while Yahoo Traffic was 39.80%. It has really been a big shift in the balance of traffic between these two search engines.

Possible Reasons I’ve thought of since the drop

At first, I thought that it was because I was not blogging and writing as much that is why my traffic dropped. So I said to myself, ok, this is just a reminder from Googel that I should write some more so I started writing again but my traffic is still not back to where it used to be. Although I’ve seen some improvements but it is still not enough. I want to be back to where my traffic used to be.

Another reason I’ve thought of is that I got penalized by big momma Googol for having peyd posts. Well, guilty as charged but it has been a while since my last peyd post. (I’m guilty of writing a few of them earlier today as I missed writing them). But it is not the first time for me to do stuffs like this and I’ve already been punished by receiving an EGG ( 0 ) for my page rank. Isn’t that enough already? Does Gogle have to make your blogging life miserable just for that ? I don’t think so.

It’s happening to everybody!

So I did more research about it using Googel Search and found out that I was not alone. Many people have been hit by this weird Google algo tweak that some even lost 90% of their traffic (count me in there). I wonder what is happening.

I was about to post on the release of custom firmware 4.01 M33 for PSP when a day later, custom firmware 4.01 M33-2 got released. For the past two days, I have been having a hard time with my computer because I got infected with a virus. Here is a pic that shows Kaspersky Antivirus detecting it.

After spending a lot of time researching on how to remove it, I finally found the solution so I would like to share with you all my solution on how to remove Monder Trojan Virus effectively and permanently.

Note: When reading this guide, I suggest you read this from another computer or you print it as it is suggested that you have no other open programs while trying to remove the Monder Trojan from your computer.

About Monder Trojan Virus

Monder Trojan virus is something I got when I tried to install pirated software on my laptop. It is not easy to remove as it attaches itself to the winlogon.exe and explorer.exe, two essential files that are needed to make your pc run. I tried deleting the files via Safe Mode but I wasn’t able to as they say the file is locked. The virus usually creates a lot of garbage dll files in the c:\windows\system32 folder. It is easy to spot as the letters are not readable, looks like random typing like asdadauiobg.dll. If you manage to delete one, more will be created in its place so a special procedure is needed to remove these pests from your computer.

Initial ComboFix

First thing you should do is to download the program ComboFix [download link] [Alternative download link] and save it to your desktop. This is a program that will try to clean your system automatically and it usually takes about 10 minutes.

After downloading Combofix, go to Start->Run then type this in the box, “%userprofile%\desktop\combofix.exe” /killall

then execute. Combofix will now run. Here are the things that combofix will do so that you will not be alarmed.

1. First it will change your time and date (it will return it back later)
2. it will kill all other running processes
3. it will do a series of tests and permanently deleting those bad files (just trust the program ok? )
4. it will reboot your computer
5. it will do a secondary scan
6. it will generate a log file of what it has deleted, what it has found .. more like a report

Combofix and HijackThis

Now that you have ComboFix’s log, you will have to download HijackThis [download link], run a scan and generate a log report. I would assume that you now have two logs, Combofix’s log and Hijackthis’ log.

You can opt to go to forums specializing in analyzing these logs to seek for more help because they can really understand these logs. This is the safest option but not the quickest.

However, if you are adventurous like me, you can read the logs yourself and try to remove the Monder Trojan Virus yourself. This is the riskier option but the faster one. At this point, I’m going to share what I did to remove the Monder Trojan Virus.

Disclaimer: The file names will be different as they are randomly generated by the virus. Please do not blame me if it worsens your computers condition. This is for those who want to take the risk only. If you can wait, seek help in forums as they have more experience than me.

Removing Monder Trojan manually

Continue reading if you want to take the risk. It’s a bit technical but I’ll try to make it easy.

The first thing you should do is to create a file named CFScript on your desktop and write these stuffs. [use notepad to create the file]

KILLALL::

File::

Registry::

Then the next thing you should do is to read the ComboFix log that can be found on C:\.

Now look for the section that reads, “Files Created from date to date“. Then you should look at those and look for files that look suspicious, like asd97agdasd.dll or something. Monder creates it’s files in the \system32\ folder so make sure the suspicious looking dlls are there. All the files that you see should be placed on the CFScript file under File::

(example)

suspicious2.dll

Registry::

Next step is to look for the section of the report that reads, “Reg Loading Points“. Here are the places where you can see the virus infects in your Registry.

• [hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\ShellExecuteHooks]
• [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]

You will know if its the virus because the next line after the [hkey blah blah] is the filename and location of the virus file. So what you have to do is to copy that part of the log under the Registry:: section in your CFScript.

[hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\ShellExecuteHooks]
“{blah blah blah}”= “C:\windows\system32\blahblah.dll”

After finding all the suspicious files and registry entries, it’s time to run Combofix again. However, this time you have to run it in a different way. You will have to drag the CFScript file and drop it into Combofix (both should be located on your desktop)

After running combofix with cfscript

Combofix will run again and you will have to wait again. After running, it will once again show it’s log and you have to check it again. Are the suspicious files still there?

• If yes, then you have to add them to a new cfscript file then drop it again to combofix
• if no, I suggest that you run combofix again just like before ,”"%userprofile%\desktop\combofix.exe” /killall” in the run command just to be sure. This is optional though.

If you don’t want to run cfscript again, then it’s time to clean-up the changes made by combofix (remember it changed your time settings)

Post Combofix Clean-up

Go to start-> and run this, combofix /u . It will start deleting all traces of combofix, reset your time and hopefully, you pc will be virus free.

I have to admit that I have been making off topic posts here in my blog in attempts to increase my traffic and learn seo. However, I said to myself that I will not show these posts in my feeds and so far I have been successful in doing them but it has been like a double edge sword to this blog.

What is this blog about?

First, before I talk about the off-topic stuffs in my blog, let me first explain what this blog’s purpose is all about. I mainly talk about blogging and I know it sounds too general so let me break it down. Here in this blog, you can read about

• Blogging Tips (example tips such as, how to write your posts, post frequencies, good and bad blogging examples)
• my personal blogging experiences where I tried something and shared my results (examples would be Valentine’s day blogging experiences, Manny Pacquiao blogging experiences, Ragnarok blogging) experiences)
• News about Wordpress and Blogger - Whenever a new wordpress version is released, I try my best to upgrade then blog about it. The same goes for new updates and features in blogger.
• Blogging events in the Philippines - Once in a while, we get lucky and get invited to blogger meet-ups. When I see a news, I help spread it by posting it here.
• Current Events in the Philippines - Although this has nothing to do with blogging, as a Filipino, I’d like to create social awareness on the events that are happening in our country.
• and lastly, how to make money online through blogging. Well so far, adsense has been my consistent money maker here but I’ve yet to tap into other resources. See a sample of my adsense income here.

What are the offtopic posts?

Well, off topic posts are any of my posts that are not related to the topics I have mentioned above. That would include my post on PSP OFW 4.01, NBA Finals 2008 and other topics. The purpose of these posts is to gain more visitors via search engine and search keywords. So far the results have been good. I make sure that they don’t show up in my feeds so it’s a win-win solution for me and for my regular readers. However, I have noticed a problem here.

The posts take longer to get indexed and harder to rank

I noticed that when these posts don’t get included in the feeds, the search engines tend to be late in indexing them (similar effect to posting immediately and scheduled posting as discovered by fellow blogger Dexter). This is very bad in terms on ranking especially when you are trying to rank for a current news item because by the time they have been indexed, the traffic would have died by then. So my proposal would be, I’d add these off topic posts in my feeds but I’m concerned on what my readers would feel if they saw these off topic posts.

So I’d like to ask, would you mind if you saw off topic posts in my feeds?

Personally, when I see these type of posts in the feeds I read, I just skip them and move on to the next. However, some may get pissed off and unsubscribe. So I’d like to ask for your opinion first.

The last time I checked out some PSP news was when it was still 3.92-m33. I heard there was a 3.95GEN CFW, then Sony OFW 4.00 went out. Now for the news…

Sony has just released their firmware update to the PSP. The latest version now is official firmware 4.01. Of course, if I wouldn’t upgrade to that if I were you. That is because, upgrading to official firmware will make you lose the customizations of custom firmware, most importantly, no more roms allowed.

* Display of search results under Internet Search has been improved for certain languages.
* Playback of video content under Video has been improved for certain file types.
So in response to this, Dark Alex wrote in his blog that CFW 4.00M33 will be released by the end of this week. That’s just in a few days. I hope something good will be included there. I have read that save states might get included (oh yeah!). Well, we will just have to wait and see…

We all know that Typhoon Frank lashed out in the Visayas and damaged was pretty bad in Iloilo City. Based on the testimonial of this comment by Redlan, the water level rose very fast that it shocked a lot of people. The water dam in Maasin was damaged, river beside jaro overflowed, and high tide came so Jaro suddenly became a sea.
