I was just chilling out with my songs when I heard this song from Stevie Hoang entitled Shawty. I like the song but what really caught my attention was the word Shawty because I noticed that there were a lot of songs that talk about that word. For example, Get it Shawty by LLoyd, Shawty by Plies Ft. T-Pain, Buy you a drank (shawty snappin) by T-Pain f Young Joc and Shortie Like Mine by Bow Wow.

I wondered, what does Shawty mean? My first guess that it was a slang word for shorty but when I googled it, I was surprised with it’s meaning.

Shawty — a Southern derivation of “shorty” or “shortie” — has multiple meanings, according to several Internet slang dictionaries. It can reference a good friend, a small child, a newcomer or even someone shorter than you.

But the most prevalent use, and the one found in these songs, is to describe a girlfriend or particularly attractive woman. (Source)

So why am I posting about this?

Well this is something I’ve learned from Marhgil Macuha which is keyword hijacking. So far, I’ve made two posts that targets the keyphrases “pinay $candal” and “qoutes“. I checked Google Trends and found out that the keyword “Shawty” beats these two keywords in terms of search volume so I thought about it, why not target “Shawty“?

So now, I will be optimizing this post for the Shawty keyword. If “pinay $candal” brought me a lot of traffic, I wonder if this will give me more traffic? Well it’s worth a try! ^_^

When I searched for the songs, I was again surprised at the number of songs that has “Shawty” in their title. Is this the new theme for the hip hop and RnB world? I would also like to give special mention to Stevie Hoang. I recently got his album and I can say that I like many of his songs! ^_^
